How could we spend a day in the Lake District and NOT visit some kind of Beatrix Potter site? Turns out the only one that was open and accessible was the "World of Beatrix Potter Attraction," a very boring and generic name for a thoroughly delightful little place in the equally delightful town of Bowness-on-Windermere. (Despite it being about the same size as a cereal aisle in a typical American grocery store, the "World of Beatrix Potter Attraction" was voted "Best large-scale tourist attraction in Cumbria.") Finely detailed dioramas illustrate each of Potter's 23 stories.
