We were on our way up north (the Lake District, Scotland) for a week, and stopped by the Preston LDS Temple.
Preston is significant in English LDS history--it was the place the first LDS missionaries preached. And right here, in the river somewhere along that bank, the first English LDS converts were baptized.
The walk along the river was quite picturesque. But our guide--an old man in his 80s (?) who had a hip replacement last year--was a FAST walker. And we were all pretty ticked by the end of the walking tour. Maybe he felt he had something to prove. Well, he proved it!
In the main square of Preston, where the first LDS missionaries preached, this is the only store they would recognize today. The Thomas Yates jewelry store has been there since the 17th century.
