Time to head back to England

But as we're boarding the bus to leave, the entire New Zealand All Black rugby team comes strolling down our street.  They played Scotland two days later, and won decisively.

Coastal scenery near Newcastle.

Beautiful.

We didn't spot Nessie while we were in Scotland.  But this was almost as exciting--a signpost for a village named "Wide Open"--and I had to rush to get my camera up in time.  (I'm not joking.  Look it up here on Wikipedia)

We had an evening in York (represented here by one of the gates to the old city.)  We attended Evensong at York Minster, which was stunning--both the church and the service.  And York has the loveliest and best-preserved medieval old town in the country.  Still a bit touristy, but we love the cobblestone streets and the old facades.  The girls and I wandered the streets before and after Evensong while H relaxed back at the hotel.  (BY FAR our nicest hotel on this trip.  The Hampton Inn at York is good value!)
